A Guide To Visit Raiwind ( Pakistan Epi - 1 )

I am your Tour Guide (‘Mirchi’). And today I am going to take you to my Hometown Raiwind

Raiwind:

Raiwind is a town located within Union Council 149 in Allama Iqbal Town of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Raiwind is now promoted to Tehsil Head Quarter. Here let me clear a confusion that People assume that Raiwind is the Part of Lahore and they start like that “Yeah You Mean Lahore”. Which is not true.

I mean if you want to come Raiwind from Lahore. Then Distance from Lahore to Raiwind is almost 41.2Km via Raiwind Road, 41.1KM via Rind Road and 39.0Km via Ferozpur Road/Lahore- Kasur Rd.

Now let’s just go back in time and talk about its History.

 

History:

If we look back in history, During the British Rule or British Raj, Raiwind was a Tehsil of Lahore. This town came into the spotlight when Railway Junction was built by the Northwest State Railway between Karachi-Peshawar Railway line and Lodhran-Raiwind Branch Line.

Raiwind was an important trade center of Agricultural product and Cotton Gaining & Press which employed round about 203(Two Hundred and Three) people before opening the Ferozepur-Bhatinda Railway line.

Now let’s talk about the most famous place in Raiwind. Which we called Tablighi Markaz

Tablighi Markaz:

Raiwind also serves as the Headquarter of Tablighi Jamaat and also Hosts the Annual Tablighi Ijtema. Tablighi Markaz is the center point of it. Hundreds of shops are there to serve them.

Raiwind Markaz is now become of complex, consisting Main Mosque, Islamic Madrasa and Residential Areas.

Annual Gathering (“Tablighi Ijtema”):

Every Year thousands of Muslims held a convention which called Ijtema. Almost 2 Million Muslims all around the country and other countries like America, UK, China, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, and South Africa, etc came here and start their Prayer. Ijtema Lasts for 3 days.

Pakistani Ijtema is the largest annual Tablehi Ijtema after Bangladesh. In 2011, When Tablighi Jamaat went higher in their numbers, they divided the Ijtema into Two Parts. Half of them will attend the first Ijtema and second Half in second Ijtema.

Raiwind Bazar:

Raiwind Bazar is one biggest attractions for people especially for ladies. Variety of Shops (Clothing, Shoes, Crockery, Bags, Makeup, Furniture and many more) hustle and bustle attracts people who live not only in the Raiwind but also a bit far away from the villages for shopping.

Raiwind Bazar is the biggest trade center. Almost more than 10 thousand people visit Raiwind Bazar for different purposes.

Food:

People of the Raiwind loves Food, Specially their Breakfast. In Breakfast people love to have Halwa Pori. Or Naan Chanay. Hundreds of shops that prepared Halwa Pori and Naan Chanay are located all around the Raiwind Bazar in the early morning.
